Jaywingers raise over £3,600 for charity

Last week, Jaywingers in our Swindon based contact centre donated £3,600 to three local charities. The amount raised massively exceeds their £2,500 target and shows what a stellar year of fundraising activity they’ve had.

The three charities benefiting from the fundraising efforts are Wiltshire Air Ambulance who received £1,735.26, Prospect Hospice and local branches of Cancer Research UK who each received £578.42. The remaining £707.90 was split between two national charities, Sports Relief and Wear it Pink, the flagship fundraising event of Breast Cancer Campaign.

To mark the success, cheques were presented to the charities by our social and fundraising committee and some key fundraisers who were specially selected thanks to their contribution to the cause.

One highlight of the fundraising calendar was the Family Fun Day, organised and hosted by a team of dedicated Jaywingers. On the day, around 400 people turned up and enjoyed bouncy castles, a DJ and a BBQ. As well as the family fun day, fancy dress competitions, quiz nights and a number of seasonally themed events such as an Easter raffle and Halloween party have all helped boost that all important final fundraising total.

2015 will see fundraising activities continue with the local charities that will benefit being decided over the next few weeks.

Chris Hancock,  Managing Director, Contact said: “The local community in Swindon holds a special place in our heart and we are very proud to be a part of it. Our social committee always invents novel ways for us to give back through a series of charity events designed to help our neighbours. As a team of about 250, and one that’s continually growing, we hope to raise even more money in 2015 so we can make even more of a difference this year.”
